That'd be great if Mizuho, from Please Teacher! were my Japanese teacher.I want to share some online resource about learning Japanese in this article. I'm a beginner; in fact, I just started last month and only spend about 1 hour per week on it. The reason I want to learn Japanese is because I want to know more about the otaku subculture, such as *cough* dojinshi, and able to play *cough* eroge games.
Chinese(Cantonese to be precise) is my first language, and English is my second. So learning other language is not my first time and I know it is hard. But this is my first time to learn other language because of my hobby and not trying to pass a test or exam. This is going to be fun ^^
Before I started, I asked my friend, who I met in the US but went back Japan years ago, for some guide line. Then he helped me to find all the online resource about learning Japanese. So he gets all the credit for discovering these sites. His Xanga site is about his daily life in Hiroshima. He is not an otaku, but he likes Gundam.
Online Japanese Study I use this for my main study. I'm still in pre-study Hiragana section.http://kids.nifty.com/study/hira_rensyu/index.htm It is for Japanese kids learn how to write Hiragana correctly. It is pdf format so you can print them out for your practice if you want.
http://kids.nifty.com/study/kata_rensyu/index.htm This one is Katakana.
http://kids.nifty.com/study/number/index.htm And this one for those don't know how to write Arabic number.
Japanese-nihongo.com This site provides the .rm file, so you can learn how to pronounce each Hiragana correctly.
http://www.lint.co.jp/+/_JPD.htm Japanese Phrase of the day.
Okay, that's it, and have fun^^ I'm going to learn my next 10 Hiragana.
(Gordon's site)
watching animes is my only platform to leanr the language (slowly).
