Strike Witches is one of the new animes in this summer season. It wasn't in my watch list, but I was bored, so I gave it a try and it was very interesting anime. This show is a bit NSFW since the 'fan-service' are in the entire episode. Apparently, this is a retelling of the previous OAV.
Plot Summary from Anime News Network:
The year is 1939 - it was then that the Neuroi appeared. Nobody knows where they came from or what their ultimate agenda is, but the fact remains that their attacks drove people out of their towns and cities. In order to take arms against them, humanity develops a new anti-Neuroi weapon called the "Strike Unit." Using the power of magic to fight against the monsters, this new devices enhances and amplifies the power of female magic-wielders. To use this devices, young witches from all over the world have been brought together to form an elite task force unit called the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, commonly known as the "Strike Witches."

My first impression of Strike Witches is . . . "Sky Girls?". I have only seen some Sky Girls' images, but Strike Witches does resemble Sky Girls. And I think both happened to be created by the same author.

There are total of eleven cute Strike Witches (base on the opening). If they are released as figures, it will definitely be a wallet-killer for the fans. These girls use magic to control the Striker unit, the two mechanical legging allowing them to fly. When the girls are using magic, they got a pair of doggy ears,

and a tail.

Seriously, a lot recent animes have girls transform into a fox or a wolf. Do you find girls with animal ears and tails sexy?
The most weird thing in Strike Witches I think is the girl's fashion. No skirt or pants, just...undies; so...I think NSFW (I think this is the selling point for this anime).

at least the boys wear pants.

I'm not quite interested in loli type girls, but the sky fight scene is very cool; I think I will keep watching this series just for that.
Some more snapshot from episode 1:

I can't help editing this one.

I actually have been in the dark side for very long time :D
chun,
not quite interested in the fan-service either; but the fight scene is good; just add a little comedy in it and it will be prefect ^^
