A Quick Update

Well, I notice I did not write a single post for last month, so here is a quick update what I have been doing. First, let's see what figures I got last month.

Not much there: Aya from The Onee Chanbara by Alter, Blanc Neige from Shining Wind by Kotobukiya, and the new figma Yuki.

And that Nendoroid Petit Yuki is a gift from OtakuFuel. OtakuFuel always ships your order with a secret gift. I usually receive some anime pins, but this time they gave me a Nendoroid Petit, and it is Yuki!!!

So why didn't I update at all last month? and this is one of the reason: PSP3000 and the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. I love this game so much and the PSP3000 is nice, but too bad it can not be hacked yet.

Also here is a little update on my first GK. The process has been very slow. It is sanded and fixed, and the next part is prime and then paint. Well, I bought a primer spray can two months ago. This is my first time using it since I bought it, and ... it does not work! I am not sure why; maybe the cold weather?

Not working???

Anyway, I order a bottle of Mr. Surfacer 1000, and will airbrush it. Speaking of airbrush, here is my IWATA Eclipse HP-CS and my air compressor. I have quite a trouble receiving them; it got shipped back to the seller twice and at end I had it shipped to my workplace, but it was so heavy to carry it back plus it was raining that day.

Since I am waiting for the surfacer, I am going to work on my second kit: Saber.

Actually, I have two more kits. They are 1/7 Subaru and 1/6 Depon. Subaru is a NSFW kit which I didn't know when I pre-order it. Not a complain. Actually, I like NSFW. ^^ That also means there is a lot skin to work on. People say skin tone is very hard; well, I don't know. I haven't tried yet.

Some Otaku Goodies

Some goodies I received this weekend. First are the two magazines: Megami Oct issue and G's Anime Festival Vol. 2. Well, let just be honest with you. I don't know Japanese, so why the hell did I buy these two magazines? Of course for the goodies that come with the magazines. First, I only want the posters that comes with Megami; and for Dengeki G Festival, the Haruka 3D mouse pad (or oppai mouse pad).

My first Megami issue, I like posters come with it!

Always want to get this kind of mouse pad, and I got it now.

*cough* it does feel good. . .

Also, two figures arrived this weekend. They are the 1/8 Fauna by Alter, and the Airi from Queen's Blade series by MegaHouse. I always wanted to get this Fauna since I read the review at James' blog. And I finally get it; and the Queen's Blade,... I just want to strip her off; I know, I am HENTAI!!!

I also got some tools for my gk. From the left they are Mr. Putty strong epoxy, Tamiya putty basic type, and Mr. Masking Sol which is for masking.

Okay, I am going to work some more on my kit now.

Catgirl WIP 1

So here is my first kit's WIP (Work in Progress). The name for kit is Catgirl in E2046, so I am going to just use that. Although title is WIP 1, I actually did some work few weeks ago, like removing the flash, sanding, and washing. Until yesterday, I thought I only sanded the area where I removed the flash, but turns out I need to sand the whole thing; of course, I need to sand the whole thing; how stupid I was. . .

So I spent one hour or so roughly sanding the kit last night. The kit only has 8 parts (if you count that tiny ribbon). It was very easy to sand; it didn't have any difficult area. I would like to tell you what girt of the sandpaper I used, but I don't know. I just used a piece I cut off N months ago for sanding a gunpla of mine (haven't finished that still); and I didn't label it, but I guess it was 400 girt.

After roughly sanded it, I do a little assembly; drill few holes here and there. . . and here she is with all the parts put together except the tail and ribbon.

Of course, mistake is along the way to success. One of them was when I tried drill a hole in body for connecting the leg, I accidentally drilled through a little bit (image below). I think I can fix that with some putty.

And there are many many places need to be fixed especially the front hair. The detail on it is gone when removing the flash on it, and it got worse when I tried to sand it. . .

The front hair is not quite fit with the back hair. From what I read in some tutorials, I can fix that by heating the piece with hair drier, and change to the desire shape.

Beside all these, the very first thing I want to do is the legs. The gap between body and the legs is kind of big; and because the gap is big, I need to figure out how to position the legs, so they can balance the whole body. Hmmm. . . I thought I had all the tools I needed, but I am missing some epoxy putty.

hmmmm. . . messy?

First GK

Ok, I am very lazy lately and result in lack of posting. Actually, I wrote three drafts to post last week, but just too lazy to finish it and upload to the site. And today I was not planning to do it either, but thank to UPS makes me so mad, and I just want to write something about it.

Above is my very first GK(garage kit or resin kit) which I bought from e2046 few weeks ago. This reminds me that I have not done the feedback yet; maybe I will do it later; I want to enter the lucky draw :D. I think I just got a little more crazy about figure right now; not just collecting a pre-paint figures, but paint and assembly it myself. The reason I chose this kit to be my first is because it seems very easy to build, and a very simple color scheme. Currently, I haven't really started it yet. I just finished washing it and next will be to assembly it; maybe I will do it later this week if I am not lazy.

I have got all the tools needed to build it except the airbrush. . . It is all thank to UPS. I was supposed to receive it last week, but the smart driver thought I moved and returned it back to the shipper. The best part is the shipper is not in the US, so it is going to take another 2 or 3 weeks or maybe a month; thank you so much, UPS.

Well, let's talk about something happy. I finally got myself a Canon Rebel Xsi (or 450 in some country), and was learning it the whole weekend. I only bought the body only and a 1/8 50mm lens; I think very soon I will need a zoom lens. But for now I want these filters for close-up shot first since I like to take very close picture on my figures; a macro lens is too expensive for me at the moment. Second is a nice tripod, any suggestion?

Here is some pictures taken from my new Canon Rebel Xsi.

First one is Alice from Queen Blade, still need to do a review on her, and also the one behind her;

I like the quality of this picture a lot. Maybe I should take the picture of all my figures again. That will happen when I am not lazy. . .

and my glass...

Enma Ai

Enma Ai is also known as Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl). Some of you probably know about her. If not, you may want to watch the anime; it is an awesome anime you shouldn't miss. This post is not about the anime, but the figure. I received her about 3 months ago, and I had her in the box until today; I was so lazy to do the review. Anyway, here she is.

This is my very first Alter figure. I have heard a lot good thing about Alter when I started collecting, and it is really good in quality. The price is a little expensive than others, but it is worth it. You will probably see me buying more Alter in future.

I didn't mention this, but you probably notice that you can now view the higher resolution images in the same page. I have implemented Highslide JS, a JavaScript thumbnail viewer, into my site. It is like the Light Box, but I like this one better. Do you like it? I think it is more convenient to view the images without clicking the 'Back' button.

sigh, I fell asleep while writing this post(just woke up to finish this); and I missed the Heroes season 3! Well, I guess I can watch it later somehow.

Let me out of the room

Are you bored? or want to use some brain power? You can try this Room Escape game by Neutral. Yesterday, I saw my co-worker playing this game at work, and I ended up playing it as well. In this game, you got locked in a room with no reason. The main goal is to find the key to escape the room. You can find a lot tools and items along the way to solve the problems. I recommend trying the Vision one; it is the toughest and most complex one.

If you got stuck like me for hours, you can try to find some hints/answers here (read the comments); you will spoil the game tho.

A lot or little?

I have been collecting figures for about 9 months; I know, not very long time, but I thought I got a lot of figures already. . .until I put all figures into my new glass shelf(just built it last night), and I realized that I only had little. . .you can see how empty it is. How many figures do you have?

This is Alice from Queen's gate. I got her early this week. She is cute, right? I will take more pictures for her later. Meanwhile, you can check out her reviews at Exelica Meteor and HappySoda.

I also got these two cheap and low quality, Rei and Asuka. The quality is poor compare to my other PVC, but they seem good in the glass shelf. By the way, these two figures are supposed to match each other, but I feel something is not right when I line them up side by side. Can you see why?

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos here. My camera sucks at indoor. I took about 20 pictures, and only these five are okay. Another excuse to get a new camera :p

Stop Meee Please!

Despite the title, this post is nothing serious but just a list of my figures pre-order. I used to have a very limited budget for my very expensive, somewhat useless collecting figurine hobby, and I have not spent over 60 dollars on a single figure (well, not yet). But thing has changed since I got a decent paid interns for this fall (til Dec), so my budget has suddenly increased, and I couldn't stop clicking the "PRE-ORDER" button; stop me please ^^;

Anyway, here are the figures I pre-ordered so far. All the images are gotten from HobbySearch although I didn't pre-order there. Well, the cost for EMS shipping is still too much for me.

1. Ikki Tousen Kanu Unchou by Daiki Kougyo:

This figure is my most favorite one in the list; that is why she goes first. I have never heard of the manufacturer Daiki Kugyo. I just hope the figure will look as good as the one in the picture. It will cost about 15,000 yen (about 145 dollars); it will be the most expensive figure in my collection ^^;

2. Suzumiya Haruhi by Daiki Kougyo:

Another gorgeous figure by Daiki Kougyo. I guess everyone knows about Haruhi; and I think many of you have this pre-ordered as well. Again, I just hope the final figure looks as good as the picture above.

3. Gwendolyn by Alter:

Gwendolyn is the heroine in the PS2 game Odin Sphere. Well, I got the game about a year ago, but I am still in chapter one ^^;

4. Saber by Gift:

5. Queen Blade Leina by MegaHouse:

6. Queen Blade Nanael by MegaHouse:

Actually there were few more figures I wanted to pre-order, but I want to save that money for a better camera (maybe a DSLR). To me, the fun part for collecting figurine is taking picture of them, and share with other; so I want to get a better camera. I will borrow a Canon SD850 from my friend, and if the quality satisfies me, then I will just get it rather than an expensive DSLR camera. Any advices on camera are welcome; my budget is about 500-800 dollars.

By the way, three out of the six figures are under mature rank, so I am currently updating the site to handle these adult contents.

Still Alive?

Yes, I am still alive and so is this blog. I did not update this blog for a month due to my laziness (this is really not a good excuse). Anyway, after my final exam was done, I was going to just relax a little by watching some anime, but it turned out that I could not stop watching a series after another series. Some are currently airing like World Destruction, Xam'd: Lost Memory, Strike Witch, Tetsuwan Birdy Decode, and the two hot mecha-anime, Code Geass R2 and Macross Frontier. Sekirei was in my watch list, but I spoiled it by reading the manga version after I watched the first episode.

Beside all these new anime, I also catch up some old anime series like Aria, Hell Girl, Lucky Star, ookiku furi kabutte, Karas, Spice and Wolf, and Zero no Tsukaima. I have read a lot blogs talk about Zero no Tsukaima, so I gave it tried, and I finished the first two season and on to the current season. There are just too many good anime I have missed. By now, I guess you can picture what I have been doing this whole month. I feel myself more of an otaku than a blogger right now ^^;

This kawaii nendoroid Hatsune Miku has arrived this week. I have decided to keep her in the box until I move to my new apartment (moving this Sunday). I will do some photoshoot of her after I settle in my new place.

And I also got the rest of the SOS members like two weeks ago. Yes, two weeks ago and they are still unopened. . .

Another figure I got this month is this Yuki Nagato with her guitar by Sega. This figure is very cheap ,and the quality is hmmmm acceptable with this low price. It is cheap and low quality because this figure is supposed to be an award for the UFO catcher. It is weird that I got time to open this one, but none of the figma I got recently.

Back to packing my stuff, I have already done packing the books; now, going to pack my figures.

two out of five

After three months and a couple weeks of wait, Haruhi finally arrives at my door. she got a very happy face right out of the box, or to me, she just can't wait to get out of box and dominate all my time to play with her.

I really want to play with her more, but I need to catch up with my school work since next week is the last week.

The rest of the SOS dan will probably arrive this week or the next. They really arrive at a bad time when I really can't play ^^;
